  • RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:

    Rudolf B. Husar is a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. He has been the director of CAPITA since its creation in 1979. His past research includes atmospheric aerosols, regional and global air pollution transport and chemistry, bio-geochemical cycles, and environmental trend analysis. His recent interests are focused on the development of a new discipline, environmental informatics, which is the application of information science, engineering, and technology to environmental problems.

    In addition to teaching environmental science courses, Rudolf Husar has served as an executive editor of the Atmospheric Environment journal, as well as on the boards of other international journals. Also, Rudolf Husar has served on the following technical review panels and committees: Advisory panel to NSF on Atmospheric Chemistry; Member of National Academy of Sciences (NAS) committee on Sulfur Oxides; Member of NAS committee on Atmospheric-Biosphere Interactions (1981); Member of NAS committee on Monitoring and Assessment on Trends in Acid Deposition (1986); Contributing author "Acidic Deposition: State of Science and Technology" (1990); contributing author to the Air Quality Criteria for Particulate Matter (EPA, 1995).
