Demo web applications using or related to fire data

The demos illustrated below use DataFed web services to build a dynamic application that allows for customized maps and tools for browsing and analyzing data. The maps are generated on-the-fly using a “chain” of web services. The image URL can be embedded and controlled in any other web application. Many of the applications use data from the Wildland Fire Assessment System (WFAS) that provides meteorological and fire danger data collected at a network of fire weather stations across the U.S. WFAS is maintained by the U.S. Forest Service.

WFAS Observation Data Spatio-temporal Browser Datafed.net (server side) A browser with controllable DataFed map view and time view built using the .NET Environment.

 --- MonthlyAverage

WFAS Data Availability Status A time series display of the number of valid data points per day for the WFAS fire weather network.

WFAS Multi-map Comparison A web application that can compare two spatially interpolated maps. Built using JavaScript and HTML. Note: this application currently only works with Internet Explorer browsers. Support for other browsers is being pursued.
