Established in 1973 as a tool for sharing ideas and advancing mutual interests of the states and provinces and encouraging cooperation with the private sector. Recent activities have focused on economic development, re-building the Northeast Atlantic groundfish industry, cross-border environmental issues (including Acid Rain & Mercury), and the changing marketplace for energy.
IJC/AQAB - International Joint Comission, Air Quality Advisory Board
In 1966 the Governments asked the International Joint Commission to observe air quality along the entire Canada and United States boundary and, as appropriate, draw air pollution problems to the attention of Governments. The Commission established the International Air Quality Advisory Board to identify and provide advice on air pollution issues with transboundary implications.
