Welcome to Stomorska!
Stomorska is the oldest port on the island. First families settled in Stomorska as early as in 16th century.
Stomorska has been famous for its fleet of big wooden ships that were used to carry Solta's wine and olive oil
to markets on mainland and in Italy. Only five or six such ships are still docked in Stomorska.
Instead of goods they now take tourists on cruises around the Adriatic.

Stomorska is economicaly the most developed town on Solta. Besides three mini grocery shops, there
is a number of restaurants and bars that offer excellent dishes. In Pizzeria Volat you can
get the best pizza on the island. Veljko, the owner, is especially proud of his custom made beer
pumping machine that always delivers beer at 6 degrees Celzius.
The two oldest restaurants in the
town are Komin and Turanj. These two restaurants, in addition to the new one
Nevera, offer a variety of fish dishes. Finaly, you don't want to miss tasting "slane srdele"
(similar to anchovies) at the bar Popovi. Also, a number of
apartments in Stomorska are
available for rent during the summer. Interested in undersee diving? Visit the Diving Center Stomorska.
For those that are cruising around the Adriatic on a yacht or sailing boat, the Stomorska bay is
a good place to take cover from south winds, Jugo, while it is not well protected from the north
Bura.
Summertime is when Stomorska is at its best. After a year of work or study, friends and relatives
return to Solta for a vacation. In fact Stomorska is well known for its young "ekipa," a large group
of young people who have spent their summers together for many years. Not underestimating the
elders' ability to have fun, it is this group and other young people that bring life to Stomorska.
A separate page is dedicated to them.
