Analogy
An analogy is, although similar to a
metaphor, is a similarity drawn between things which are otherwise unlike; a similarity between like
features of two things on which a
compromise may be established; the resemblance not of things themselves, but of two or more attributes,
circumstances, or effects; an inference drawn from certain admitted resemblances between two or more things
to conclude on a probable further similari
ty between them. An analogy uses old concepts to create new knowledge, and explicitly points out the
similarities in the comparison.
