Here, monthly mean wet sulfate deposition data from the NADP network are compared with fine particle sulfate data from the IMPROVE and NEPART networks for the month of July, 1990.
Collective US and Canadian efforts to understand “acid rain” over the past decade have led to a reasonably firm scientific understanding of the patterns, origins and effects of sulfur pollution. Recently initiated, bilateral emissions control programs should result in significant reductions in sulfur emissions in the next 10 years.
