Miscellaneous Ozone and Precursor Data Sets for OTAG Model Comparison
-
The goal of this activity is to (1) acquire ozone related air quality data from six different data sources and (2) prepare of these air quality data for ingestion into the UAM-V model.

AIRS ozone comparison with simulated ozone precursor transport, morphed ozone + emissions dispersion:7/92
-
The ozone monitoring data from the AIRS database is compared to the simulated transport of ozone precursors, using CAPITA the Monte Carlo Model (July 18 - 25, 1992) with two hour time steps. The ozone transport simulation is the same movie as Ozone transport simulation using the CAPITA Monte Carlo model .

Ozone precursor transport simulation using the CAPITA Monte Carlo model
-
This is a simulation of the transport of ozone precursors over the Eastern US. It is similar to the flow visualization movie: Flow visualization with the CAPITA Monte Carlo model; however, the particles have been colored based on the cummulative weighted sum of the particle's VOC and NOX mass, i.e., "ozone" mass = VOC+6*NOX.

Flow visualization with the CAPITA Monte Carlo model
-
The animation shows a dynamic flow simulation of airmasses over North America during 7/1/1992 - 7/14/1992. The left hand side of the movie contains the spatial location of all particles emitted at a constant rate from a spatially uniform grid at the surface layer of the atmosphere. The particles have been colored based upon their height.

Hourly NE Ozone and Back Trajectories from 8/23-28, 1992
-
This is a comparison of measured ozone in the Northeast (left), with back-trajectories (right) during August 23-28, 1992. The bottom left time chart shows the ozone pattern at Albany, NY (solid line) and at Adams in northwestern Massachusetts. The model is the same as in The monitoring data were extracted from the AIRS database, and the back trajectories were created using the CAPITA Monte Carlo
